L'Arche

Each L’Arche community is grouped around living, working, or meeting places. It forms a network of relationships in which all its members participate, whether or not they have an intellectual disability.

Together...

Communities are linked to each other by bonds of friendship and a sharing of common values and practices. They are integrated into their neighborhoods and contribute to the life of their environment through the multitude of connections they maintain there.

We believe in the dignity of all people, whether or not they have an intellectual disability.

We believe that diversity has the power to enrich our lives.

People with intellectual disabilities have gifts, perspectives, and ways of interacting that society needs.

We believe that when people with and without intellectual disabilities take the time to be together, it can transform us all.

We believe that spirituality and the search for meaning are essential to living life to the fullest. L’Arche is rooted in the Gospel and continues to be shaped by people of different beliefs, practices, and religions.

We believe that L’Arche communities can take many forms and that we must continue to adapt in a changing world.
